Open a transparent canvas and flood fill with white (or color of the stat background). This will help it to blend in without having rough edges. Choose the font you want to use, color and add in the text with these settings Floating and Antialias check. With the matching ants still around them add Inner Bevel effect, choose pillow from the drop down menu change the settings to: Width 8 Smoothness 50 Depth 2 Ambience 50 Shininess 48 Angle 315 Intensity 50 Elevation 20
You can save the setting to use again by clicking save as and name it Light Pillow. Now click ok. With the matching ants still active add a drop shadow with these settings: Vertical 1 Horizontal 1 Opacity 50 Blur 0
Click ok. You have the puff effect. With the matching ants still active go to selections down to modify, expand by 1 click ok, then back to selections down to invert and hit the delete key. This will remove the white background and leave only the text with a small white border. Place the text where you want it and your finished.
