Making Your Animations Clean

Now, I told you this was going to be easy .....

First lets do the saving of a gif file in PSP.
Notice the edges

Both are nice and smooth.

Here are the settings

I use less opacity for lighter backgrounds and more for darker. I blend the background color to the lightest color ... in case of black edge, I use a light gray if I am going to put it on a white background. If I know it is for black, I use black. For either background, I make a happy medium.
Usually for white backgrounds, I set the opacity around 20%.
There .... a whole lot less jagged edges .... looks a lot better.
Simple isn't it.

Now for animation settings
When you go to save the animation have it to the best quality setting and click on the customize button

Click on the Partial Transparency tab

Notice the opacity setting. For most all animations I set it at 70. Sometimes I have even had to go higher. Again blend the edge color lighter, unless using on dark background. For black backgrounds always use black. The edges might look more jagged but , they will not show up on the black background. I all ways leave my animation open until I check and see what it looks like on the background and if I need to change the settings I can go back and use the undo button and save it again using different settings.
Again very simple.

I never could figure out why there was not any information like this on the Internet. It is something that people need to know ... I didn't for a couple of years. I got to where I didn't even want to make animations because of the ugly jagged edges.
